As one of Alberta's oldest cities, Wetaskiwin offers historic charm and a rich history reflected in the restoration of many historic buildings in the city's downtown core. Founded in 1892, the community quickly grew with Wetaskiwin becoming a town in 1902 and a city in 1906.
We invite filmmakers to explore a region steeped in true frontier spirit surrounded by vast agricultural lands, parks and recreation trails, strategically located only 35 minutes from Edmonton International Airport.

City of Wetaskiwin Historic Downtown
Wetaskiwin's rich history is reflected in the restoration of many historic buildings in the city's downtown core. Thirteen restored historic buildings and hand-painted murals portray Wetaskiwin's past.
One of the earliest provincial courthouses — built in 1907 — still stands, and was renovated in 2005 to serve as Wetaskiwin's new city hall.
