Mayor Tyler Gandam

Tyler Gandam has been on Council since 2013, and has lived in Wetaskiwin since 1989. A funeral director by trade, Tyler is also a Captain with the local fire department—where he has been a member since 2001. He loves Wetaskiwin for its people who are always willing to help, volunteer, and donate to those in need.
Tyler married his beautiful wife, Miranda, in the summer of 2016 at Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC.

On October 16, 2017, Dean Billingsley was elected to his first term in office as Councillor.

Deputy Mayor July/August 2021
On September 11, 2019, Gabrielle Blatz was elected to her first term in office as councillor. Gabrielle has lived in the County and City of Wetaskiwin for almost her whole life. She has worked at the hospital since graduating Red Deer College in 2015 as a lab assistant. Gabrielle is passionate about her community and loves Wetaskiwin’s diversity, inclusivity, and the strong sense of community this city provides.

Councillor Joe Branco

Deputy Mayor May/June 2021
On September 11, 2019, Joe Branco was elected to his third term in office as councillor. Joe moved to Wetaskiwin in 1978 and started working in the concrete industry which he continues to this day. He has been married to his wife Nancy for 38 years, and they have 4 boys and 5 grandchildren. Joe loves to cook and travel! He is a car enthusiast who enjoys driving race cars and classic sports cars.

Councillor Alan Hilgartner

Alan was raised in the Wetaskiwin area, and moved into the City in 1989. As a hard working business owner of nearly 35 years, Alan still finds time to enjoy golfing, curling, and muscle cars. Alan has been married to his wife, Janice, for 38 years, and is proud of his three children and grand-daughter.

Kevin has been a member of Council since October 2017, and has resided in Wetaskiwin for 55 years. Kevin and his wife, Selina, have three children and five grandchildren, and he enjoys coaching minor football in his spare time.

Councillor Wayne Neilson

Deputy Mayor September/October 2021
Wayne has lived in Wetaskiwin for 32 years and has been on City Council since 2013. Previously Wayne was the Principal of Wetaskiwin Composite High School. Wayne currently teaches Stained and Fused Glass at the Wetaskiwin Arts and Crafts Centre.
Wayne is passionate about Wetaskiwin because of its friendly small town atmosphere while providing all the necessary amenities, from recreational facilities to quality health services. Wayne has been married to Carol for 47 years and is proud of his two children--who are both teachers--and his four grandsons.
