In order to help protect the public’s health during the #Covid19 pandemic, the City of Wetaskiwin has CANCELLED the 2020 Earth Day Festival. This is in line with the province’s public health advisories and recommendations surrounding mass gatherings.

Stay tuned for a new date for the 2021 Earth Day Festival.

Eyeglasses & Hearing Aid Donations (CANCELLED)
The City of Wetaskiwin Earth Day Festival has joined the non-profit Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre (CLERC) to collect your old eyeglasses, sunglasses, and hearing aids for developing countries around the world!

Collection has been postponed until further notice & will be for one day only at the Earth Day Festival (Date TBC).

• Broken or missing parts

Green Business Challenge (GBC) (CANCELLED)

Does your business take extra steps to be more sustainable?? If so, take our quick 5 minute survey! Nominated businesses will be voted on by the public to determine who deserves recognition for the year. Shout out to last year's GBC winner - Horizons Centre!

What you will WIN: 

• FREE Business License Renewal for 2021

• Free table at the Earth Day Festival

• 2020 Most Sustainable Business Plaque

• Announcement in the local newspaper, Facebook, and on the City Website!

• Bragging rights for the year

Up-Cycle Contest (CANCELLED)
Create a project using at least 75% upcycled or used materials to be voted on at the Earth Day Festival by people's choice.

What you will WIN:

• $100 VISA Giftcard
• FREE rain barrel
• A picture of their project posted on the City website & Facebook page!

• Bragging rights for the year


Registration is currently closed until further noticed. 

Take It or Leave It (CANCELLED)
Back for a 4th year! Bring your gently used items to leave for someone else to take and browse other peoples items to take for yourself, all free-of-charge. Any items left at the end of the event will be donated to the Wetaskiwin Salvation Army.

TIPS:

• Drop-off begins a 9:00 a.m. on the south side of Arena 1 (by curling rink)
 • NO PARKING in the drop-off zone
 • Parking is provided on the north side of the building in the main parking lot
