Today—March 8—we celebrate International Women’s Day, honouring the progress and achievements of women all over the world. It is also a day to raise awareness of and encourage accelerated gender parity.
“I am fortunate to work with some incredible women who help build our City, Province and Country,” stated Mayor Tyler Gandam. “As we celebrate International Women’s Day, please take some time to think about and recognize the women in your life that have made an impact.”
International Women’s Day is ascribed a different theme each year. In 2021, the campaign theme for the celebration is “Choose to Challenge.” As the International Women’s Day site explains, “a challenged world is an alert world. And from challenge comes change. So let's all #ChooseToChallenge.”
