May 5 to 11 is Emergency Preparedness Week in Canada, and it's an important time to ensure that you and your family have an emergency kit and a plan.
"With the way the climate and the world is changing, it is important to be prepared for any type of emergency. In Alberta, we have experienced tornadoes, floods, earthquakes and major fires," said Mayor Tyler Gandam. "Emergency Preparedness Week is a great reminder for us to make sure we have a kit ready so that we can withstand being without power or water for 72 hours. It is also important that your family knows what to do in the event of an emergency and where your kit is kept."
