While the base construction of the northern half of the trail at By-the-Lake Park has been completed, Border Paving is now waiting for the trail to freeze in order to complete the top coat.
And yes, apparently you can pave in sub-zero temperatures (who knew?). The reason for the wait? To ensure that the trucks carrying the asphalt do not rut and ruin the existing paved trail surface.
Intriguing information aside, the trail will be open in the interim for public use. The City will notify the public when construction is expected to resume, at which point the trail will be closed again.
