1. What is the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP)?

The Restrictions Exemption Program permits businesses/entities/organizers to operate without the majority of public health restrictions in CMOH Order 44-2021. The REP is an optional program, and businesses who choose not to participate may continue to operate but must fully implement all of the public health restrictions outlined in CMOH Order 44-2021.

2. How will this be implemented?

We will have extra staff/security at each entrance of the facility to ensure all individuals entering the facility have proof of vaccination, a negative test, or a valid medical exemption. Please arrive early to ensure you have time to complete this process prior to your activity. 

3. What is considered proof of vaccination?

According to the requirements given by the Alberta Government for the Restriction Exemption Program (REP), proof of vaccination includes:

• A picture or paper record of a valid Alberta Health Services, MyHealth Records, pharmacy, First Nations, or physician immunization record prominently displaying the name, type of vaccine and date of administration, or
• Canadian armed forces immunization record, displaying the name, type of vaccine and date of administration, or
• An immunization record from another Canadian Province or Territory, displaying the name, type of vaccine and date of administration.

4. What does it mean to show proof of a negative COVID test?

A negative COVID-19 test should be a written or printed copy that indicates the individual has tested negative for COVID-19 on a Health Canada approved rapid antigen, rapid PCR, or lab-based PCR test approved by Health Canada or the lab accreditation body of jurisdiction. A picture of the rapid test result taken is not sufficient evidence for entry.

5. What does it mean to show proof of a Medical Exemption?

A medical exemption is the original signed letter from a physician or nurse practitioner that includes:

• The name of the person in the written documentation that matches the identification provided
• The physician's or nurse practitioner's information is complete by including:
  • Name, phone number, contact information, professional registration number, and signature of the physician or nurse practitioner
  • Statement that there is a medical reason for the individual's exemption from being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and
  • The duration the exemption is valid.

6. Where is this program taking place?

7. What if I need to enter the building to pay an invoice or register my child for programming?

These requirements apply to every person that enters the facility, even if you are not swimming or using the gym.

Call our front desk staff at 780-361-4444 or email recreation@wetaskiwin.ca if you need to contact a manager to find alternative registration and payment options if you cannot enter the facility due to the Restriction Exemption Program.

8. Do I have to show proof of vaccination to watch my children's programs or bring them to swimming lessons?

Any spectator, ages 12 and older, must provide proof of vaccination or show proof of a negative test result.

If your child is in lessons and under 8, please make sure they have an adult (14+) to escort them who is vaccinated or can bring proof of a negative COVID test.

9. Does my child have to show proof of vaccination?

Youth participating in youth activities are NOT required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test. However, youth ages 12 - 17 who are not participating in activity or recreation activities ARE required to provide proof of vaccination.

10. What if I only have one dose of the vaccine?

According to the Government of Alberta regulations for the REP, the date of administration of the last required dose in the series must be at least fourteen days prior to the date the patron is trying to enter.

• Up to October 25: At least one dose is required at least 14 days prior
• October 25 and later: Two doses of a two-dose series are required, with the second at least 14 days prior (Note that the Janssen vaccine is the only approved vaccine that requires only a single dose for a complete series - if an individual received one dose of a Janssen vaccine at least two weeks prior, this would be considered sufficient).

11. Where can I get a rapid test?

Private clinics can provide COVID-19 tests for individuals. A current list provided by the Alberta Government can be found here.

12. Do I still have to wear a mask?

Masks are still required as per Provincial Restrictions in public areas unless:

• Individuals are actively participating in a physical activity (swimming, actively working out in the gym, etc.)
• The individual is under 2 years old
• The individual qualifies for a medical exemption
